Interested in bikepacking and bike touring? Join us for a fun introductory trip.  Experience being self-supported, but with support when you need it. Learn about necessary equipment, nutrition & hydration, and cycling with gear with experienced trip leaders. Route is the scenic 160km Simcoe Loop Trail with about 80% gravel and paved bike paths and a few on-road sections. Try self-supported cycle touring!

Day 1

Orillia to Midland

Start out in Orillia with help from the guides to get your gear packed, and then hop on the Simcoe Loop Trail towards Midland. Pass through Coldwater, and then along the shores of Georgian Bay. The route includes forests, wetlands, and waterfront. Camping tonight, with guides to help you get set up. Enjoy a delicious professionally-prepared camp dinner and learn camp cooking tips.

Day 2

Midland to Barrie

Camp breakfast and tips on fueling and hydration for today's longer ride.  The ride is mostly gravel, through the villages of Perkinsfield, Wyevale, Elmvale, Phelpston, Anten Mills, and then into the city of Barrie. An excellent mix of pastoral farmland, forests, and cityscapes. A hotel stay tonight. You are on your own for dinner, and will have time to explore Barrie's beautiful Lake Simcoe waterfront.

Day 3

Barrie to Orillia

A shorter day to finish off. We will ride from Barrie to Orillia on the Oro-Medonte rail trail, and lots of natural beauty. We pass through Shanty Bay, Oro Station, Hawkestone, and finally to the Lake Couchiching waterfront. To end, we will celebrate the completion of the Simcoe Loop Trail with lunch in Orillia's charming and historic downtown.

 Notes: A bike suitable for gravel riding is required for this trip. Routes are subject to change without notice based on local conditions and guide judgement. Trip will run with as few as 6 guests. Provincial COVID-19 protocols in place. Full refund if Humdinger cancels trip due to COVID-19 restrictions, or transfer to different dates.
